I only follow the Bundesliga for the most part, so I have seen many games of Matip and Karius. Always thought the former was horrible and the latter very mediocre, so I was really surprised to see a club with the financial resources and ambitions of Liverpool spending money on players like this.
I think you should be happy that Klopp doesn't want to have complete control over your club's transfers, indicated by the signing of Michael Edwards as sporting director (feel free to correct me if I am mistaken).

With the squad they have, I think finishing in 4th place with the opportunity to play Champions League should be considered a success. From the outside looking in, the Premier League seems brutal and Liverpool is severely lacking talent outside of their quality attacking players.

Matip may not be a world class central defender but Liverpool have conceded far more goals in the matches in which he wasn't playing. If Klopp buys a decent defender to partner him in central defence during the transfer window, it will go a long way to ensuring that Liverpool do finish in the top four.

It's pretty obvious now, if it wasn't before, that Chelsea's problems last season were mostly caused by Mourinho. Even though there's still a long way to go I'd be surprised if Chelsea don't win the title this season.

Middlesbrough 0 Liverpool 3
I thought Liverpool might struggle to beat Middlesbrough, given how negative and defensive they are, so I was pleasantly surprised that we scored three goals and kept a clean sheet. Mind you, not conceding a goal probably has more to do with the Middelsbrough's lack of attacking threat than any improvement in Liverpool's defending.

liverpool are the best attacking side in the pl so far not a surprise they won 3-0 with lallana in form.as far as liverpools defence is concerned i have said it before they need sakho and a top quality keeper.

their defence is better than both the manchester teams imo. i just don't get the hate for lovren, klavan & morena from some of the so called pundits and fans alike. do you honestly think a manager like jurgen klopp (who imo is class above the rest in the premier league) would have bought them if they're duds.

Everytime pool concedes, its the defenders fault, why isn't anyone blaming the midfielder/forward for losing possession in middle of the park, dragging attack minded defenders[its not their fault for playing a high-line coz thats how klopps teams play] out of position???

True. People should also remember that Klopp has made more money from selling players than he has spent on new ones so there is surely big transfer funds available. Will be fascinating to see who he deems worthy of splashing the cash on when the time comes. I'd like Virgil van Dijk or (here's dreaming...} Marco Reus.

van dijk is gonna be very expensive (premier league price if you know what i mean ) Jonathan Tah would be a sensible option in the summer. Great on the ball, young & tall just how klopp likes his defenders (Hummel/Subotic during his time at B.dortmund)...him alongside Jesus Vallejo and Niklas Sule are the best young defenders currently playing in Bundesliga. To bad Vallejo is on loan from Real and Bayern just snapped up Sule

Southampton have been showing some interest in Sakho, we knocked back a loan bid for him just now. Perhaps we could use him as a makeweight in a Van Dijk deal. Premiership proven warrants a bit of a higher price tag sometimes, I mean look at Bundesliga proven Vorronin and Serie-A proven Aquilani lol.
